Carrying on with our yearly outreach to students in need, we wanted to go bigger and broader than ever. New school supplies may not seem like much to some, but to others it is huge deal.
One of our founders, Rodeo Hernandez, who grew up as a student in the Philippines, would remark that, in order to fit in with the school dress code, he would “color his pink shoes black with a marker, and pray that it doesn’t rain that day”. It’s a funny but also sad story of the reality of students in 3rd world countries.
With the help of our amazing volunteers, we picked up new bags and filled them with new supplies for school. We set out on a local elementary school in Perez Quezon.
Our initial goal again was to distribute only 100 bags, however, as we reached the end of our journey, we found ourselves again giving away for a total of 200 bags to Elementary and high school students in Perez Quezon.
While acknowledging the importance of education, we recognize that a shattered spirit can hinder anyone's progress. Beyond providing the necessary physical tools for success, our aim was to instill in these students a renewed sense of support, belonging, and self-belief. We inspired them to find confidence not only in themselves but also in their community, their future, their faith, and in the hearts of people worldwide who care for them, despite the vast distances that separate us.
