Supporting Displaced Orphans in Ukraine

A small hand of hope in the midst of intense chaos

As the war between Ukraine and Russia wages on, tragically the civilian casualties rise as well. Today there are estimates that the war has put 100,000+ orphans over the county in physical danger and emotional distress. Millions more have fled Ukraine as refugees. From where I write this in Germany, a great number of Ukrainians that I've become friends with have been because they had to flee their hometown in Ukraine.

Aspire to Dream is partnering with Hearing Health International Initiative, a nonprofit which has worked in Ukraine for over 20 years. Their main mission is to support Ukrainian orphanages and in partnering with them we aim to provide emergency resources and basic needs, enabling the orphans to mobilize. They know where and who the orphanages in Ukraine are, and can maximize any donation that Aspire to Dream can donate.

As the winter was approaching, our goal for this mission was to gather as much winter clothes as possible and donate it to HHII which will then distribute them to the orphans in need. We garnered the help of local churches, neighbors and friends. In the end we collected 20 full bags of clothes to give away. In addition to Ukraine, these bags will also find homes in Poland and Germany. Moreover, A2D helped in purchasing a van in order to help evacuate Ukrainians, we did this in partnership with NLW.

The current state of the world is extremely unstable. World powers are fighting for a portion of land, with millions of innocent lives caught in the crossfire. For a moment, try to place yourself in the shoes of an orphan who has to leave home and travel thousands of miles to a country far away, it’s almost incomprehensible. We hope to continue in war relief efforts and fill a need wherever we see one.
